We
would like to introduce you to EAA Chapter 1083. We are a non-profit group made up of people who have an interest in aviation.
Aircraft ownership is not necessary to enjoy our group, although we have in our membership aircraft ranging from sleek cross-country
general aviation machines to experimentals, ultralights, even Powered Parachutes. Our mission is to promote the sport
and hobby of recreational aviation, and encourage others to experience the thrill of flight. Remember EAA Chapter 1083 is
always family oriented, so bring the family for some good fun.
Where do we meet and what do we do at these events?
Our
Monthly Meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday of the month at Rowan County Airport, Hangar 18. The meal begins at
6:00 pm with the meeting following at 7:00. A $5.00 donation for the meal is requested. After our dinner we will have either
an educational program, a guest speaker or seminar or a business meeting. Our quarterly Business meetings in January,
April, July, and October, and the remaining months will be our program months.
The Saturday
following the Tuesday night meeting is our monthly fly-out. We usually depart RUQ at 10:00 am, eat lunch and return mid-afternoon.
Bring your plane and fly with us or if you don’t have a plane, there are usually empty seats just begging for a passenger.
Please check the newsletter and webpage for details of future events. Check our Fly-out Page for upcoming events. On the first
Saturday of each month we hold our First Saturday Lunch, usually at the EAAgles Nest at Rowan County Airport (RUQ).
Lunch is served from 11:00 A.M. until everyone goes home. The public is always invited to join us for a cookout
style meal and a lively course of Hangar Flying.
We also hold a Tech meeting during the
month. Check our schedule for upcoming times and location.
Other activities include fly-ins, Young
Eagle flights for ages 8-17, Flying Start for ages 18 and up, as well as other activities throughout the year.
